This past Saturday, the boys freshmen basketball team competed in a four-team tournament with Lafayette Harrison, Franklin Central and Martinsville.
“It was good to have the opportunity to compete against teams like Harrison that we don’t usually see and have a different style of play,” freshman Nathan Kremer said.
Harrison handed the boys a tough loss in the first round, but the boys were able to rebound with a victory in their next game against Franklin Central.
“Harrison was able to find some spots in our zone defense and beat us, but I thought we had a good day and were able to get a solid win against Franklin Central,” freshman Jackson Kidwell said.
“We lost a really close game to Harrison, who I thought was a really solid team, and we played well against Franklin Central. I think as a team we are still sitting at a really solid spot and we are ready to play really solid basketball,” Kremer said.
Teammates had very good things to say about the games as well.
“The whole team I had bright spots, but I though our bigs Dawson, Kremer and Nash did really well crashing the boards and finishing at the rim. I was also impressed with our guards Bonser, Kidwell and Baugh did great handling the press and finding good passing lanes,” freshman Dylan Pringle said.
After Harrison took the championship, players saw that as a good sign.
“Harrison barely beat us and they ended up winning the whole thing, so that shows us that we would be capable of winning it too,” Pringle said.
