No freshman football this fall
Due to a lower number of freshman players, there will be no freshman football team, only a combined JV and freshman squad.
“It’s a little disappointing to not get to play with just your classmates, but the opportunity to play with and against older players is nice because we will have the chance to improve by playing much harder and bigger completion,” freshman Ethan Pringle said.
It is disappointing to see good athletes who could help the team not playing.
“It is disappointing to see our class having low numbers because we have good athletes in this class,” freshman Nash Peterson said. “I think that we have a great group of players right now, and I am confident in the freshman class. I just wish more kids were jumping to play.”
The lack of players forces some players to be on the field constantly.
“With not as many other freshman, I could have to play both offense and defense, which I like doing. It is just very tiring at times,” Peterson said.
Although numbers are down, the freshmen are still optimistic and excited for their upcoming season.
“I think we have very good potential as a class even though are numbers are not as high,” freshman Collin Robbins said. “We have a tight-knit group and we all have a lot of belief in our team.”
When the season rolls around, the freshmen hope that they can adjust to playing with the JV and enjoy a winning 2019 season.
“I think we will be just fine playing JV, and I think we can still have a very positive season,” Pringle said. “If we just stick together and play together we can have a great year.”
