GHS’ first “Snoco”

School history is being made tonight, as it is the first year in many years that GHS will have a winter Homecoming—Snowcoming.

The basketball team will take on the Perry Meridian Falcons tonight at home.

“This is the first year we are doing this, so we would like to see a lot of participation from everyone and school spirit,” senior Lawson Roberts, Student Council vice president, said.

A pep rally will be held at the end of the school day today.

“We have a lot of fun things planned for the pep rally. It will include fun relay games and a teacher dance off which will be really fun,” sophomore Ashlee Walton, Student Council representative, said.

A student volleyball tournament was held on Wednesday and Thursday to mimic the powderpuff games that occur during fall Homecoming.

“We thought that volleyball would be a good idea because we can incorporate boys and girls equally, and we decided the prize for winning would be Chick-fil-a gift cards because that is a universal reward that most everyone likes,” Walton said.

Students participated in spirit days all this week to express school spirit.

“The spirit days are Twin Day, Disney Day, Holiday Day, and Green and Gold Day. Student Council brainstormed to find ideas that we haven’t necessarily used before,” Roberts said.

A casual dance will take place in the Activity Complex after tonight’s game.

“Tickets will not be sold at the door, but they have been sold all week. The tickets were $5 and include the game fee, a hotdog, popcorn, water and the dance entrance,” Roberts said.
