Woodmen tennis features veteran players
The boy’s tennis team has had a great season so far, improving to an impressive record of 10-2 after winning the New Palestine Invite, but among the team success are two individuals whose names are Ethan and Jacob Gray.
“With it being my last year, I want to end on a good note, so making it to state would be a big accomplishment,” senior Jacob Gray said.
The boys look to make a run this year in the state tournament with an experienced yet young group of guys.
“I’m looking forward to the state tournament. We have a great group of guys with tons of talent and I expect a lot from me individually hoping to make a run for state,” freshman Ethan Gray said.
The tennis team will participate in the Center Grove sectional along with Franklin Community, Indian Creek and Whiteland Community.
“I can see us going very far in the tournament. We have been solid all year long, and I expect a lot from the kids, just because I know they can do it,” Coach Jeremy Runge said.
The tennis team has only two seniors, and one has a good chance at making a run for state.
“Being one of only two seniors and the main guy of the team, I expect a lot from Jacob this year because he has the potential to be an amazing player and possibly win sectional this year,” Coach Sutton said.
The team will end the season with the conference tournament at Franklin. “I have high hopes for sectional. We have played every team in our sectional at least once. We will be prepared for whatever comes our way since we are going into sectional coming out of conference,” Jacob Gray said.
