On Sept. 19, the boys tennis team will compete in the East Tennis Invitation.

The invitational should be very competitive.

Head coach, Mr. Runge said, “The teams competing will be Reitz Memorial, Providence, and Columbus East. We will be participating at Columbus East at 9 a.m.”

It should be a great time for the team as they will face stout competition.

“I am looking forward to beating Providence because they are a private school and they are ranked 7th in their county. We are also ranked 7th in our county, so it should be a very competitive match,” junior Sam Fenner, doubles player, said.

Saturday will be a brutal day for these players as they have to play all three teams on the same day.

“I think three matches in one day will be very challenging. All of the matches will probably take six to seven hours depending on how well we play. It will most definitely be a test for our bodies,” senior Charlie Brooks, No. 3 singles player, said.

Coach Jeremy Runge knows that this invitation will be a grave test for his team as they will have to push their bodies to their limits.

“My goal for my team during this invitation is to survive all three of our matches. I disagree with us having to play for so long and to have so many matches so close together. In the end, we should be able to compete with all of the teams there, and I hope that we can come out of the day with a win,” Coach Runge said.

The players on the team also hope to come out of the day with substantial achievements.

“One thing I am really looking to accomplish in this invitation is to go undefeated for the day and to win every match,” Brooks said.
